STEMNET
We NYBEP are pleased to introduce ourselves as the new STEMPOINT contract holder with STEMNET, with effect from 1 August 2008, for brokerage of Enhancement and Enrichment (E&E) to all schools and colleges for North Yorkshire and the SEAs contract holder for the management and coordination of SEAs. The previous contract holder was NYBEP and may have been known to you as SETPOINT North Yorkshire.
The purpose of this contract is to support the Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) curriculum in schools and colleges.We do this by:
- working with Senior Leadership Teams and practitioners to offer Workforce Development support for the STEM curriculum at all Key Stages;
- supporting schools with the alignment of STEM interventions to activities that meet other government priorities such as 14-19 and Enterprise;
- involving businesses and other partners to offer an appropriate range of practical STEM activities to contextualise teaching and learning, with a particular focus on 21st Century Science and, where appropriate, Triple Science and other STEM vocational awards;
- hosting county-wide events, such as Engineering Inspirations, which enable students to showcase their coursework, and take part in challenges and competitions, as well as adding to other key festivals and events, such as Venturefest Yorkshire and the York Festival of Science and Technology;
- working with partners such as Science City York and the National Railway Museum to deliver a range of family and community learning opportunities to improve knowledge and skills in STEM and related careers.
