Working With Primary Schools
NYBEP offers primary schools in York and North Yorkshire a range of services that support teaching and learning, help enrich the curriculum, and contribute to students’ development of essential skills for their future life:
· Activities in schools (an hour’s session, a half-day, or a full day) focusing on particular curriculum areas. For example, “It All Adds up” is a carousel of maths workshops, while “Enterprise is Everywhere” provides a challenge to plan an event for the school or community.
· Themed events for up to 300 students at locations across the county – eg Flightpath (WW2) at the Yorkshire Air Museum, and Healthy Living and Aspirations Fairs.
· Workforce development for teachers ( see the PDP section).
The primary team relies on an extended team of experts from business and other organisations to run these exciting days. Could you be involved? Businesses can help with workshops at Activity days and Events, or give short assembly talks – there’s a great range of opportunities. NYBEP staff will be very happy to guide and support you.
The focus for 2007/2008 is to offer primary schools an even more exciting portfolio of activities and events, and to help ease the transition to secondary school.
